Workshop: Basic Skills in Simulator Building, 3D Printing and Beyond
We are proud to have organised our “Basic Skills in Simulator Building, 3D Printing and Beyond” workshop at the S3 Conference 2025! It was an inspiring and hands-on session that brought together educators, clinicians, and innovators interested in healthcare simulation.
With the support from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine – Centre for Healthcare Simulation (CHS) and Kingly Singapore, we introduced participants to the importance of simulation models and the materials behind them.
We covered the full journey — from CT-to-3D model conversion and silicone casting, to hands-on model creation and an introduction to 3D printing fundamentals.
Participants appreciated the full-scope approach that bridged concepts, materials, and methods into a practical learning experience. We’re grateful for the positive feedback and excited to see how these skills can strengthen the expertise of healthcare professionals and help propel patient care standards.
Special thanks to our speakers and facilitators — Dr Alexander Ng, A/Prof. Ching Chiuan Yen, Chong Zi En, Huang Kai Xing, and Michael Chung — for organising this workshop, and to SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute of Medical Simulation (SIMS) for the opportunity to participate in this year’s conference!
