Research paper: Applications of triboelectric nanogenerators in bone tissue engineering

This paper discusses the benefits of electrical stimulation for biomedical applications but highlights the limitations of traditional equipment. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) have been developed as an alternative, utilising triboelectrification and electrostatic induction to create electrical energy from kinetic energy.

TENGs can be used in various applications such as enhancing bone regeneration, detecting biological signals, slowing bone ageing, and curing implant-related infections. The article reviews recent applications of TENGs in bone tissue engineering and discusses their drawbacks. It also presents the existing challenges and future roadmap for developing TENGs.
